Hello To all Romanians In this forum. Greetings from Bulgaria... First off sorry for typing in English but I thought that typing in Romanian through Google Translate would be stupid. So I'm from Ruse,Bulgaria (The Friendship bridge is in our town), we have a small team about 15 people and we are looking for other people to cycle with in Bulgaria or Romania. Are there any cyclists in Giurgiu ? We are would be also looking forward to some amateur races in Romania. For veteran age groups and Under 18 age groups..

Hi Notty,

As far as I know there were only 2 amateur road races in Romania last year: a climb to a mountain resort near Sibiu (in the center of RO) and a longer race near Timisoara (in the Western part of RO). They might take place this year, too.
There are some roadies in Bucharest too, they ride from time to time to Rousse, and I'm sure they would be interested in taking you on Romanian roads some day..
You could also consider a few-days cycling tour through Romania, by yourselves; there are enough places for you to eat and sleep, on your way, at reasonable prices; many people on this forum could recommend you beautiful itineraries with great landscapes and well-paved roads.
Instead of road races, we have more and more MTB marathons / cross country competitions, spread throughout the country. These comps are growing better every year so, if you do MTB at least occasionally, you might consider taking part.

Same here But it's good to make arrangements in advance. ITs really bad beause I heard some weather report that the weather will not be better untill april LOL. I've already contacted a kind dude from Bucharest. They had a road club there with 30 people... We are thinking on making a group ride in BG when the weather clears out-hope its soon

OK.. I've already have a contact with a member of some road cycling team in Bucuresti. We are making some arrangemets with them but I can't say nothing for sure until the weater is Ok hope its next week. We are all so looking forward to hit the roads...

My name is Claudiu, I'm fond of cyclotourism. In 2008 I visited by bike your country, the seaside and the mountains. You have a great country with very nice people. I know the patron of a bike shop from Kavarna. He is very fat, if you know him and I met and I cycled with the patron of a bike shop from Varna. He is quite young, about 30 years and very handsome and has a great looking girlfriend. Maybe you know them.
Thia year in the beginning of may I will come to cycle in Bulgaria on the seaside till Varna and then I'll go to cycle as many passes as I can in Stara Planina Mountains. It would be great if we could meet. Maybe we'll cycle together in the future.

Hi, me and my girlfriend were coming last summer almost every week-end in Ruse, short trips from Giurgiu, just for fun. We are not interested to bicycle in Romania, Giurgiu is just a shitty small town, so we came to Ruse frequently, for a pizza and a beer on Alexandrovska, or when we need something for the bikes we go to Dimi.
Our bikes are not racing bikes, are two modest Neuzer Nelson no-suspension 26" ATB's. We made short trips to Luliaka, Lipnik Park and Basarbovo.
This spring we intend to carry to Ruse our inline skates too, so if anybody wants to learn inline skating is welcome.

The cycling season is beginning very soon. I have already participated in a 200k ride in Sliven-it was 20 degrees celsius there... Send messages here if you are coming to ruse to do road cycling...
